World Sight Day 2018
Blindness and vision impairment still represent a huge global burden affecting over 253 million people around the world, 90% of them living in low and income countries.
The Champalimaud Foundation supports and participates in several vision-related programs, the 1-million Euro Annual Vision Award, Translational Eye Research in several centres around the world, and a European Consortium developing new therapies to tackle metastatic eye cancer.
In 2019, the Vision Award will recognise outstanding contributions towards the prevention and alleviation of blindness and visual impairment, primarily in developing countries.
2019 Applications are open and the deadline for submissions is December 31st 2018.
